While there has been no official confirmation from Sony, the app appears to be designed to let users play PS5 games directly on a PS4 console using internet streaming. According to VGC, the Remote Play app showed up in the system menu of the current-gen system in the early hours of this morning without any prior announcement. Sony has seemingly added the ability to play the PS5 remotely from a PS4 console via a new update.

This includes a handy tool known as Game Presets, which can remember player options for multiple titles. Although it has been confirmed that the PS5 will not support one of Microsoft's biggest next-gen features in the form of Quick Resume, it does have some other advantages. With the launch of the PS5 just a few days away now, there's more and more news coming out about Sony's competitor to the Xbox Series X|S. Players will be easily able to share their game libraries with one other console by simply toggling an option in the console's settings.
The news comes hot on the heels of another announcement from Sony about how game sharing will work on the next-gen system. To do this, visit Settings > Account Management > Privacy Settings and select the Personal Info | Messaging option.The PlayStation 4 has had a new Remote Play app added to the system menu that will seemingly allow players to connect to a PlayStation 5 and stream games directly to the older console. If you're using a web browser instead, sign in to your PlayStation Network account then go to your PSN Profile and hit the Edit button next to your Online ID before entering your chosen name change. On your PS4 console, go through Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Profile > Online ID then type in the name you'd like to change to and follow the prompts to check if its available before proceeding.

This will show all the items available on your account, with the newest first, then simply hit Download to your PS4 to set them downloading on your console, ready for when you return to it. Use the PlayStation Store link on the PlayStation app or visit the PlayStation Store on a computer then click on your account and choose the Download List option. If your PS4 is in Rest Mode (see above) then you can send downloads to it remotely. If you've purchased an item but not downloaded it to your PS4, you can access it by going to the Library on your home screen then choosing Purchased on the left hand menu. There are plenty of demos and other free downloads to try out, but if you want to purchase any games then you'll need to either register a bank card on your account or apply store credit by redeeming a code.
